Kazakhstan is setting up a special commission to investigate an aviation incident involving aircraft operated by Pobeda Airlines and Uzbekistan Airways.
The incident occurred in the early hours of January 10 and has been classified as serious, The Caspian Post reports via Russian media.
Officials noted that such investigations typically take up to three months.
The Russian aircraft operating the Moscow-Samarkand flight and the Uzbek plane on the Termez-Moscow route were flying over Kazakh airspace when the distance between them became critically small. As a result, the airborne collision avoidance system was activated, prompting both crews to take immediate corrective action.
No injuries were reported, but the investigation aims to determine the exact circumstances and causes of the near-miss to prevent similar incidents in the future.
