Kazakhstan, Italy Partner to Produce Sustainable Aviation Fuel

Kazakhstan and Italy have agreed to cooperate on the production of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), marking a significant step toward greener air travel and lower carbon emissions.

The agreement was reached following the Kazakhstan-European Union Round Table and was signed by Kazakhstan’s Sovereign Wealth Fund Samruk-Kazyna and Italian engineering company MAIRE S.p.A., The Caspian Post reports via Financial One.

The project envisions the production of SAF in Kazakhstan, assisting the country position itself as a player in the rapidly growing market for sustainable energy solutions.

Unlike conventional jet fuel derived from crude oil, Sustainable Aviation Fuel is produced from renewable sources and is considered one of the most effective tools for reducing aviation's environmental impact.

According to industry estimates, the use of SAF can cut greenhouse gas emissions by up to 95% over its lifecycle compared with traditional aviation fuel.
