Kazakhstan, Muslim World League Explore Cooperation at World Religions Congress

Kazakhstan's Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Madiyar Menilbekov, held a meeting with Abdulrahman Alzaid, the Deputy Secretary-General of the Muslim World League, as reported by the press service of the Kazakh Foreign Ministry on January 15, The Caspian Post reports citing Kazinform.

The meeting focused on the main areas of cooperation between Kazakhstan and the Muslim World League, including within the framework of the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions, as well as issues related to the development of interreligious and intercivilizational dialogue at the international level.

The Kazakh diplomat informed his interlocutor about the preparations for the VIII Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions, which will be held this year in Astana.

In turn, Abdulrahman Alzaid expressed full support for the Congress initiatives and highly appreciated its work. He also stated his readiness to deepen cooperation to strengthen mutual respect and understanding between religions, as well as to promote peace and harmony in the world.

Following the meeting, the Ambassador of Kazakhstan presented the Deputy Secretary-General with the Congress' Medal of Honour.

Earlier, it was reported that Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Sweden, Olzhas Suleimenov, held discussions with the Speaker of the Riksdag (Parliament) of Sweden, Andreas Norlén, as part of a traditional meeting of the Head of Parliament with representatives of the diplomatic corps. The parties discussed prospects for deepening interparliamentary cooperation, exchanging visits, and expanding interaction between the parliamentarians of Kazakhstan and Sweden on international platforms.
