Kazakhstan Prepares Next Generation for the AI Era

Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry has unveiled a new initiative to integrate artificial intelligence (AI) into the national school curriculum, developed in collaboration with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

Minister of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry Zhaslan Madiyev said the program will be introduced in two stages, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.

The first phase will focus on pupils in grades 1 to 4, incorporating AI concepts into digital literacy lessons. This stage will use the free Day of AI program, which offers 30-60-minute interactive sessions, supported by teacher resources and student textbooks in both Kazakh and Russian.

The second phase will expand the program to cover all grades from 1 to 12, equipping pupils with more advanced AI skills.

The Ministry of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry has urged the Ministry of Enlightenment to make Day of AI a mandatory subject, underscoring the country’s commitment to preparing future generations for a technology-driven world.
