Kazakhstan Railways (KTZ) has tripled its grain shipments to Azerbaijan in 2025, marking a significant boost in trade between the two countries.
In 2025, KTZ saw a record surge in grain shipments, marking a major boost for both domestic and international trade, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.
Grain exports to Azerbaijan tripled compared to 2024, while shipments to Iran rose 69 per cent and deliveries to Afghanistan increased 63 per cent.
Exports to the Baltic countries jumped sixfold, exceeding 800,000 tons, and shipments to Black Sea and Baltic ports grew by 49 per cent and 67 per cent, respectively.
Domestic grain transport also rose by 26 per cent, surpassing 3.3 million tons. Exports to Central Asia saw strong growth: Kyrgyzstan doubled, Tajikistan increased 12 per cent to 1.4 million tons, and Uzbekistan rose 32 per cent to 4.5 million tons.
In total, KTZ’s grain transport volume in 2025 exceeded 14.3 million tons, up 31 per cent from 2024, with exports reaching 11 million tons, a 33 per cent year-on-year increase-the highest figures in the past decade.
During the first nine months of 2025, Kazakhstan transported 9.6 million tons of grain, a 40 per cent rise from the same period in 2024. Key export markets include Russia, Central Asia, Iran, and emerging markets in Africa and Europe.
