Kazakhstan Renews Commitment to UN Charter in Push for Global Peace and Security

Kazakhstan has reaffirmed its firm support for the principles of the United Nations Charter during a high-level UN Security Council debate on “Promoting International Peace and Security through Multilateralism and the Peaceful Settlement of Disputes.”

Addressing the debate, Kairat Umarov, Kazakhstan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, emphasized President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s consistent advocacy for peaceful diplomacy and multilateral solutions to global challenges, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.

Umarov reiterated Kazakhstan’s dedication to the foundational principles of international law - including the renunciation of the threat or use of force, respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity, and the peaceful resolution of conflicts.

Highlighting the significance of regional dialogue platforms, Kazakhstan underscored the role of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA) and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) in promoting mutual trust and regional stability.

The statement also addressed the crucial link between peace and sustainable development, noting the contribution of the UN Regional Centre for Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) based in Almaty to regional stability, particularly in Central Asia and Afghanistan.
