Kazakhstan Rescues Over 50 Tourists, Including Children, From Flooded Gorge - VIDEO

Kazakh rescuers have evacuated 58 tourists, including 21 children and eight foreign nationals, after heavy rainfall caused a river to overflow and trap visitors in the scenic Turgen Gorge in the Almaty Region.

The rapid rise in the river's water level washed away sections of the road leading out of the gorge, leaving dozens of people stranded, The Caspian Post reports via Kazinform.

Emergency response teams were dispatched to the area and safely evacuated all 58 tourists. No injuries were reported during the rescue operation.

The Kazakh Ministry of Emergency Situations said the flooding was limited to the Turgen Gorge area, where damaged road sections temporarily blocked access.

The hydrological situation in the city of Almaty remains stable, with no dangerous rise in river levels recorded within the city.
