The Kazakhstan Institute of Strategic Research under the President of Kazakhstan has presented “The Diplomacy of President Tokayev”, a comprehensive multi-author monograph that delves into the country’s foreign policy under the leadership of Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
The publication provides an in-depth analysis of the three core principles guiding Tokayev’s diplomatic strategy and examines how Kazakhstan has adapted to major global challenges, from the crises in Afghanistan and Ukraine to climate change and geopolitical turbulence, The Caspian Post reports, citing Kazakh media.
Available online, the monograph is aimed at international relations experts, political analysts, and readers interested in Kazakhstan’s strategic positioning in a rapidly changing world. It covers the country’s commitment to good neighborliness, regional integration, and cooperation with global powers including Russia, China, the US, and the EU. A separate chapter spotlights Kazakhstan’s active role in multilateral organizations such as the United Nations (UN), Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO), Organization of Turkic States (OTS), and Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA).
Yerkin Tukumov, Special Representative of the President for Afghanistan and former director of the Institute, contributed to the work. He emphasized the critical role of experienced diplomats in safeguarding national interests, fostering investment, and negotiating on equal terms with leading world powers - all vital for managing and resolving complex conflicts.
Aidar Kurmashev, Head of the Institute’s Asian Studies Department, highlighted that Kazakhstan, as a middle power, wields the ability to shape the global agenda.
