Kazakhstan Solidifies Role as Tajikistan’s Top Grain, Flour Supplier with Strong Export Growth

Kazakhstan’s Agriculture Ministry has stated that the country remains Tajikistan’s primary source of grain and flour, with exports in these categories showing significant growth over the past ten months.

During this period, exports of flour and grain to Tajikistan increased by 39 per cent, The Caspian Post reports via Tajik media.

Notably, rice shipments also rose slightly, reaching 1,400 tons compared to 1,300 tons in the same timeframe last year.

Between September 2024 and July 2025, Kazakhstan exported a total of 12.4 million tons of grain and flour-marking a 34 per cent increase from the previous year’s corresponding period.

Tajikistan’s Antimonopoly Service recently revealed that wheat imports into the country rose by over 3.2 per cent in the first half of 2025 compared to the same period in 2024. In January-June 2025, Tajik businesses imported 613,300 tons of wheat worth $143.6 million, at an average price of $234 per ton. This represents a 32.2 per cent increase-an additional 149,600 tons-over the previous year.

The wheat import market in Tajikistan remained competitive during this period, with 66 active enterprises participating.

However, flour imports into Tajikistan declined by 36.6 per cent in the same timeframe. Importantly, Kazakhstan accounted for 92.8 per cent of all flour imports into Tajikistan, underscoring its dominant role in this sector.
