Kazakhstan Targets Major Gas Production Boost with New Processing Plants

Kazakh Energy Minister Yerlan Akkenzhenov has announced that Kazakhstan plans to increase its marketable natural gas production to 35.5 billion cubic meters by 2032, as the country accelerates investment in new gas processing facilities.

The minister said that Kazakhstan is expected to produce 27.4 billion cubic meters of marketable gas in 2025, with future growth driven by the launch of several major gas processing plants, The Caspian Post reports via Inbusiness.kz.

The first Kashagan Gas Processing Plant, with an annual capacity of 1 billion cubic meters, is scheduled to begin operations in 2027. The same year, the Kazakh Gas Processing Plant in Zhanaozen, capable of processing 0.9 billion cubic meters of gas annually, is also expected to come online.

By 2030, a second gas processing plant at the Kashagan oil field is planned to start operations, adding 2.5 billion cubic meters of annual processing capacity.

Kazakhstan also intends to commission a new gas processing plant at the Karachaganak field, designed to process 5 billion cubic meters of natural gas per year, further strengthening the country's gas production and processing capabilities.
