In 2024, Kazakhstan constructed 18.96 million square meters of housing, marking a record achievement in the country's housing construction sector since gaining independence, according to the Ministry of Industry and Construction, The Caspian Post reports citing Kazinform News Agency.
According to the Ministry, 172,089 dwellings were commissioned in 2024, of which 39,064 are individual houses. The city of Shymkent, Pavlodar, Turkistan and Kyzylorda regions lead in terms of construction paces.
Some 71,000 citizens, including those from vulnerable groups, Great Patriotic War veterans, disabled people, large families, orphans etc., living in rental housing got the opportunity to privatize their apartments.
Local akimats purchased more than 20,000 apartments for vulnerable groups of citizens. As many as 13,000 families have already received the keys to their apartments.
2.6 billion tenge were allocated to 2,300 citizens to cover their mortgage down payments.
10,400 citizens were assigned housing payments to partially subsidize their rental charges.
Approximately 10,000 families improved their housing conditions in 2024 under the Nauryz and Otau programs. One trillion tenge was allocated for the support of 64,000 families.
“19 million square meters of housing or 175,000 dwellings are set to be built countrywide in 2025. A total of 111 million square meters will be built by the end of 2029,” the ministry says.
As reported, Almaty plans to demolish half of all dilapidated dwellings by 2030.
