Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin has praised Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s dedication to strengthening educational cooperation between Kazakhstan and Russia, during a visit to the newly opened branch of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University in Omsk.
“I am well aware of President Tokayev’s deep commitment to education-both in Kazakhstan and here in Russia,” Mishustin stated. “The establishment of eight branches of top Russian universities in Kazakhstan is a powerful testament to the Kazakh government’s forward-looking approach and its support for joint academic endeavors,” The Caspian Post reports, citing Kazakh media.
Mishustin highlighted the symbolic and practical importance of the Omsk branch, noting it is the first Kazakh university to open a branch in Russia. He also applauded the university's organizational standards and encouraged students to consider enrolling.
The Russian prime minister was accompanied by a high-level delegation that included Kazakh Minister of Science and Higher Education Sayasat Nurbek, Rector of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University Zhanseit Tuymenbayev, Russian Minister of Science and Higher Education Valery Falkov, Omsk Oblast Governor Vitaliy Khotsenko, Omsk Oblast Minister of Higher Education and Scientific and Technological Development Alexander Koltsov, and Acting Rector of Dostoevsky Omsk State University Ivan Krott.
The delegation toured the new campus facilities and observed the Admissions Commission at work.
