Kazakhstan is set to introduce artificial intelligence (AI) faculties in pedagogical universities as part of major education reforms.
The announcement came during an extended board meeting of the Kazakh Ministry of Education in Astana, where officials reviewed 2025 achievements and outlined upcoming initiatives, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.
Reforms Target Schools and Teacher Training
Vice Prime Minister Aida Balaeva and Minister of Education Zhuldyz Suleimenova highlighted systemic challenges in the education sector, emphasizing the need to:
Revise preschool and primary education strategies
Adapt school curricula to modern requirements
Strengthen teacher quality and training
Focus on critical thinking, practical skills, and individualized learning
AI and Technology in Teacher Education
Among new initiatives is the launch of AI-focused training programs for educators and the creation of dedicated faculties in pedagogical universities. These efforts aim to equip teachers with modern technological skills and prepare students for a rapidly evolving job market.
