Doctors have revealed new details about the condition of those injured in the deadly café explosion in Shchuchinsk, Kazakhstan, where a powerful blast and subsequent fire claimed seven lives and left 19 others hurt.
The majority of the injured are suffering from thermal burns of varying severity, differing in both size and depth. All patients remain under constant medical supervision, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.
Seven Lives Lost
As previously reported, five victims died at the scene of the explosion, while two more later passed away in intensive care.
The tragedy has shaken the resort town in Akmola Region, prompting an urgent and large-scale medical response.
Who Is in Hospital?
Fifteen people were initially hospitalized, with 13 still receiving inpatient treatment.
Six critically injured patients were transferred to the regional hospital in Kokshetau.
Four patients remain in intensive care in Shchuchinsk and are described as unstable and non-transportable.
Three stable patients are being treated in the trauma department.
Seven people with minor superficial burns are under outpatient observation.
Doctors say burn injuries remain the primary concern, with specialists closely monitoring each patient’s condition.
The explosion, caused by a gas-air mixture ignition, occurred overnight between February 26 and 27. Investigations are ongoing as authorities continue to assess the full scale of the tragedy and provide support to the victims and their families.
