Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, China Boost Transport Ties Under Belt and Road Initiative

Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, and China are stepping up efforts to expand transport and logistics cooperation within the Belt and Road Initiative.

During a working visit to China, the delegation of Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (KTZ) met with the Turkmen minister of railway transport and Zhu Chonglie, Party Secretary of the Chinese city of Jinhua, The Caspian Post informs via KTZ.

The sides discussed strengthening trade and economic ties, enhancing transport connectivity, and boosting transit potential across Eurasia. Special emphasis was placed on multimodal transport projects and integrating key logistics routes.

As part of the visit, KTZ leadership toured major Chinese logistics hubs, including the Xian Dry Port, Zhangjiagang railway station, and the Kazakh terminal located within this strategic transport cluster.

KTZ Chairman Talgat Aldybergenov also held talks with Xi’an Mayor Ye Niuping, focusing on expanding cooperation, increasing cargo volumes, and strengthening international corridors-particularly through coordinated work on the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR or Middle Corridor).

A four-party meeting also took place involving KTZ, Azerbaijan and Georgia’s railway authorities, the Xi’an city administration, and representatives of Turkish Railways.

According to the sides, all participants reaffirmed their commitment to developing the Middle Corridor and agreed on joint steps to upgrade infrastructure, digitize logistics processes, and streamline cargo flows.
