Kazakh First Deputy Foreign Minister Yerzhan Ashikbayev has met with representatives of UN agencies accredited in the country to discuss the next phase of cooperation under the new UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF) for 2026-2030.
During the meeting, the UN Country Team outlined its key priorities and upcoming plans, including proposals to deepen collaboration with Kazakh government agencies and sectoral ministries, The Caspian Post informs via Kazakh media.
Ashikbayev reaffirmed Kazakhstan’s firm commitment to UN values and highlighted the importance of the newly launched UN Regional Centre on the Sustainable Development Goals for Central Asia and Afghanistan in Almaty, calling it a major step toward boosting regional cooperation.
The discussion also focused on improving the effectiveness and reach of UN-backed projects, especially at the regional and local levels.
Looking ahead, both sides touched on major upcoming initiatives - including preparations for the Regional Ecological Summit set to take place in Astana in April 2026, and activities planned for the International Year of Volunteers for Sustainable Development 2026, proclaimed at Kazakhstan’s initiative.
Kazakhstan and the UN agencies confirmed their readiness to expand joint efforts aimed at advancing sustainable development and improving the quality of life for the country’s population.
