Kazakh Parliament Speaker Yerlan Koshanov has wrapped up an official visit to Morocco at the invitation of the Chairman of the House of Representatives.
During the trip, Koshanov held talks with key Moroccan leaders, including Rachid Talbi Alami, Speaker of the House of Representatives; Mohammed Ould Rachid, Speaker of the House of Councillors; and Aziz Akhannouch, Head of Government of Morocco, The Caspian Post informs via Kazakh media.
Koshanov highlighted that since establishing diplomatic relations, Kazakhstan and Morocco have built strong cooperation across multiple sectors, with inter-parliamentary dialogue playing a central role. He noted Kazakhstan’s interest in deepening legislative cooperation, exchanging experience between committees, and expanding ties between parliamentary friendship groups.
The Kazakh parliament speaker also briefed Moroccan officials on ongoing political reforms in Kazakhstan and the future direction of the Parliament. Moroccan representatives praised the country’s reform efforts.
The sides recalled that 2014 marked a turning point in parliamentary relations: that year, Morocco’s then-House of Councillors Chairman Mohammed Biadillah visited Astana, while Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, then Speaker of the Kazakh Senate, paid a reciprocal visit to Rabat - laying the foundation for today’s active cooperation.
At the meeting with Akhannouch, the parties discussed boosting trade, advancing partnerships in artificial intelligence, agriculture, logistics, and transport, and supporting the rapid development of the Middle Corridor transit route. They also explored expanding cooperation in education, healthcare, tourism, and culture.
As part of the visit, the Kazakh delegation visited the Mausoleum of King Mohammed V, paying tribute to King Mohammed V and King Hassan II, founders of the modern Moroccan state.
