Kazakhstan Unveils “Traces of the Oghuz Steppe Culture” Exhibition to Global Audience

Supported by the Ministry of Culture and Information, the National Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan has launched an international exhibition titled “Traces of the Oghuz Steppe Culture”.

The exhibition opened in conjunction with a scientific seminar that united historians, archaeologists, ethnologists, and cultural scholars to discuss current challenges and opportunities in preserving and studying the heritage of the Oghuz, The Caspian Post informs via Kazakh media.

Featuring approximately 300 rare artifacts and ethnographic items, the display draws on collections from the National Museum, the Kyzylorda Regional Museum of Local History, and Korkyt Ata Kyzylorda University. Many pieces are considered part of world cultural heritage and are intended to showcase Kazakhstan’s national identity and its historical contributions on a global stage.

Among the exhibits are archaeological finds from Zhankent, and monuments dating from the 8th to 11th centuries, which reflect the beliefs, traditions, and way of life of the ancient Oghuz tribes.

The exhibition also adopts immersive technologies and multimedia displays, allowing visitors a more engaging experience with the past and new insights into historical and cultural processes of the time.

“Traces of the Oghuz Steppe Culture” is part of a broader cultural and scholarly effort to promote Kazakhstan’s historic legacy and affirm its importance at an international level. The exhibit will be open through October 25, 2025.
