Kazakhstan Urges Citizens to Avoid Travel to Iran Amid Ongoing Security Concerns

Kazakhstan’s Foreign Ministry has advised citizens not to travel to Iran, citing the need to protect the safety and interests of Kazakh nationals abroad amid ongoing regional uncertainties.

The recommendation was announced by First Deputy Foreign Minister Yerzhan Ashikbayev during a briefing in the Senate, where he emphasized that the government continues to closely monitor developments around the world, including political instability, natural disasters, and other risks that could affect travelers, The Caspian Post reports via Kazinform.

Ashikbayev said that Iran is currently not recommended as a travel destination for Kazakh citizens.

The Foreign Ministry stressed that safeguarding Kazakhstan’s citizens overseas remains one of its top priorities. Authorities are continuously assessing international developments and updating travel guidance when necessary.

In addition to security-related concerns, Kazakhstan is also monitoring global health risks. Ashikbayev noted that officials are paying particular attention to epidemiological threats in several African countries, with a separate list of destinations not recommended for travel expected to be released later.

The announcement comes as Kazakhstan continues to adjust travel and aviation policies in response to changing regional conditions. Meanwhile, national carrier Air Astana is preparing to resume regular flights to Dubai, with services from Almaty scheduled to restart on June 20 and flights from Astana expected to resume on July 10.
