New Trade Pact Opens UAE Market to Kazakh Goods on Easier Terms

Kazakh businesses are poised to benefit from improved access to the United Arab Emirates market following the ratification of a new economic partnership agreement between the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and the UAE.

The agreement was approved by Kazakhstan’s Majilis (parliament) and is expected to significantly ease trade barriers, paving the way for stronger export opportunities for domestic producers, The Caspian Post reports via Kazinform.

Minister of Trade and Integration Arman Shakkaliyev said that the deal was signed on June 27, 2025, in Minsk during a session of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council.

Under the terms of the agreement, import duties will be eliminated on more than 85% of goods, creating preferential conditions for a wide range of Kazakh exports. The liberalization process will be implemented gradually through transitional periods to allow businesses to adjust to new trade rules.

In addition to tariff reductions, the agreement also addresses non-tariff barriers, including technical regulations, sanitary and phytosanitary standards, customs cooperation, and measures to protect domestic markets.
