Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has emphasized Kazakhstan’s systematic efforts to attract foreign investment across various sectors of the economy during a ceremonial event at Akorda marking Oil and Gas Workers’ Day.
The president reflected on his recent visit to China, calling it “highly productive and a strong catalyst for the strategic partnership between our two countries,” The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.
He noted that bilateral talks covered a broad agenda, with a particular focus on Kazakhstan’s economic priorities.
“During discussions with Chinese President Xi Jinping, special attention was given to comprehensive cooperation rooted in enduring friendship and strategic partnership. Following the Kazakh-Chinese Business Council meeting, over 70 commercial agreements worth $15 billion were signed,” President Tokayev said.
Among the key projects highlighted was the construction of a petrochemical plant for carbamide production in Aktobe region, implemented in cooperation with CNPC and valued at more than $1 billion. Another important agreement involves the Development Bank of China, which will finance the construction of trunk pipelines for ethane and propane transport in Atyrau region, worth around $530 million.
President Tokayev underscored the importance of deepening cooperation with all international investors, noting that Kazakhstan’s long-standing partnerships with US, Russian, European, and Chinese companies in the oil and gas sector exemplify this commitment.
Earlier, the president congratulated oil and gas industry workers at Akorda, recognizing their contributions to the country’s energy sector.
