Trade and economic cooperation between Russia and Kazakhstan is highly multifaceted, covering almost all possible areas, Russian Presidential Spokesman Dmitry Peskov said ahead of the meeting between Presidents Vladimir Putin and Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
“All areas of cooperation will be discussed in detail, and all of them are mutually beneficial,” Peskov noted, adding that the agenda will include topics beyond oil and gas, even amid recent US sanctions targeting Russian companies Rosneft and Lukoil.
The state visit on November 11-12 is set to focus on deepening the strategic partnership and alliance across political, trade, economic, cultural, and humanitarian spheres, as well as addressing key regional and global issues.
In 2024, mutual trade between the two countries exceeded $28 billion, with Russia remaining Kazakhstan’s main trading partner for imports and ranking third for exports so far in 2025.
Ahead of the visit, President Tokayev published an article in Rossiyskaya Gazeta, emphasizing the planned signing of a Declaration on the Transition of Relations to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and Alliance, marking a new era in bilateral ties.
