Kazakhstan has been named the best country in the CIS for people considering a move abroad.
The study ranked Kazakhstan 53rd out of 82 countries worldwide, making it the highest-performing nation among CIS countries in the Immigration Index 2026, compiled by the US-based company Remitly. The result places Kazakhstan ahead of Moldova (56th), Azerbaijan (66th), Armenia (74th), and Uzbekistan (75th), The Caspian Post reports via Kazinform.
The ranking assessed 34 indicators across 16 categories, measuring factors that matter most to migrants. These included safety, healthcare, education quality, environmental conditions, employment opportunities, housing affordability, public transport, family support systems, and the availability of established migrant communities.
The index goes beyond economic performance, focusing on overall quality of life, personal security, family well-being, and long-term integration prospects. These areas have become increasingly important as more people seek destinations that offer stability and opportunities for building a future.
Quality of life, access to healthcare, safety, and long-term career prospects remain the top priorities for modern migrants. On this combination of indicators, Kazakhstan emerged as the strongest performer in the CIS region.
While Kazakhstan led its regional peers, Switzerland claimed the top position globally, reflecting its strong performance across multiple quality-of-life measures.
