Silk Way Star Sensation: Yazmin Aziz Captivates Astana with Her Malaysian Soul

Yazmin Aziz is quickly becoming one of the biggest sensations of the first Asian vocal mega-project Silk Way Star, captivating viewers across the region with her powerful vocals, charisma, and standout stage concepts.

From the very first episode, Yazmin made headlines, The Caspian Post informs via Kazakh media.

Her tender original composition “Lihatlah” immediately won over the audience, showcasing the purity and emotional depth of her voice. She continued her momentum in the second episode with a vibrant, visually rich performance of “Flowers,” bringing freshness and emotion that resonated with viewers.

Week after week, she chose bold, demanding compositions - and reinvented each one. One of the season’s most unexpected highlights was Yazmin’s interpretation of the Kazakh hit “Bul Makhabbat,” followed by her energetic take on the Mongolian viral track “Chigi Tigi Boom,” which earned high praise from the international jury.

Yazmin also used the stage to honor her heritage. Her performance of the Malaysian folk classic “Sayang Kinabalu” - complete with a national costume - became one of the audience favorites for its warmth and authenticity.

Her versatility shone further with a confident, dynamic performance of Lady Gaga’s “Abracadabra,” and later with her bold choice of the Kazakh song “Sügir’s Termesi,” which impressed viewers with its modern stylistic twist. She then switched gears completely, taking on a rock persona for “Proud Mary” - a move that secured her the weekly top score.

The semi-final delivered one of the most touching moments of the season: Yazmin’s duet with Kazakhstani artist Mona Songz on the song “Kosong.” Mona performed part of the song in Yazmin’s native language, creating a heartfelt and memorable collaboration.

Offstage, Yazmin is also gaining recognition - she was recently named among Malaysia's 30 Outstanding Women, underscoring her rising influence.
