Kyrgyz Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry Bakyt Torobaev has announced that agricultural sector continues showing robust growth.
In the first half of 2025, the total value of agricultural production reached 117.6 billion soms ($9.343 billion), up 14 billion soms ($1.112 billion) from the same period in 2024 - marking a 3.8 per cent year-on-year increase, based on official figures from the ministry, The Caspian Post reports, citing Kyrgyz media.
The food processing industry also recorded substantial gains, with output totaling 48.4 billion soms ($3.845 billion), which is 9.2 billion soms ($730.942 million) more than the first half of last year.
Torobaev emphasized that the domestic market has remained stable, and the country continues to be well supplied with six essential food items: milk, meat, potatoes, vegetables, sugar, and eggs.
“Most importantly, there have been no critical disruptions in the internal agri-food market - the situation remains stable,” he noted.
The minister attributed these positive results to the effective implementation of five key strategic priorities:
Expansion of irrigation systems and access to clean water
Development of seed and seedling systems, livestock genetics, and veterinary care
Support for agricultural cooperatives, logistics, processing, and mechanization
Boosting agricultural exports
Enhancing knowledge exchange and farmer training
