Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov and Tajik President Emomali Rahmon have met in Dushanbe during Japarov’s official state visit, holding extensive talks on strengthening bilateral cooperation.
The two leaders engaged in wide-ranging discussions, with a focus on the development of social infrastructure in specific regions and coordination within multilateral platforms, The Caspian Post reports via local media.
Particular attention was paid to issues affecting the border communities of both nations.
President Rahmon welcomed the positive trajectory of the Kyrgyzstan-Tajikistan relations, emphasizing the successful conclusion of the border delimitation process and the steady progress being made on demarcation.
He also highlighted the growing momentum in trade, economic, cultural, and humanitarian relations, and underscored the importance of close cooperation in the field of security.
President Japarov, in turn, thanked the Tajik side for the warm hospitality and described the completion of border delimitation as a crucial step toward strengthening security and regional stability. He expressed optimism that the remaining demarcation efforts would be completed in line with the agreed schedule, and looked forward to a constructive dialogue to define priority areas for future collaboration.
After the one-on-one session, the talks were scheduled to continue in an expanded format with both countries’ official delegations participating.
