China Construction Company is exploring collaboration opportunities for the Asman City project, a major new urban development in Kyrgyzstan’s Issyk-Kul region.
A Memorandum of Cooperation was signed in Beijing between the National Investment Agency, the State Directorate for the Construction of the Environmentally Friendly City of Asman, and China Construction Company, The Caspian Post reports via Kyrgyz media.
The agreement aims to strengthen partnership in investment, infrastructure, and construction, while attracting advanced technologies and foreign investment to drive the project forward.
The parties discussed potential areas for cooperation and investment opportunities to help realize the vision of Asman City.
The eco-friendly city project was initially launched in 2023 when President Sadyr Japarov laid its foundation stone. Designed to house between 500,000 and 700,000 residents, the project was temporarily halted after international partners proposed revisions to the “green city” concept. These changes required additional time for reworking the plan, leading the Cabinet of Ministers to terminate previous agreements with investors.
