Kyrgyzstan has begun test voting at all polling stations across the country, implementing new remote voting technology in preparation for the upcoming snap parliamentary elections set for November 30, 2025.
On October 20, three remote voting centers were officially opened in Bishkek at key locations including Dordoi (Alkan Bazary) Market, Asia Mall, and Dordoi Plaza, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.
The Central Election Commission has encouraged all eligible voters to participate in the test voting phase, which runs from October 10 through October 30.
This remote voting system is designed to provide voters with greater flexibility and convenience, allowing citizens registered on the voter list to cast their ballots at any polling station-whether outside their district or abroad-without bureaucratic restrictions. The initiative aims to ensure the protection of electoral rights while also encouraging higher voter turnout.
The snap elections follow the Jogorku Kenesh’s approval of the parliament’s self-dissolution on September 25, 2025. President Sadyr Japarov subsequently signed a decree on September 30 to schedule elections for November 30.
As of October 1, Kyrgyzstan has 4.287 million registered voters. Internationally, the number of polling stations will increase to 100, with seven polling locations established in Kazakhstan alone. These are spread across Astana, Almaty (two stations), Atyrau, Karaganda, Shymkent, and Taraz, enabling Kyrgyz citizens living abroad to participate in the election process.
