Kyrgyzstan to Boost Overseas Voting with 100 Polling Stations Ahead of Snap Elections

Kyrgyzstan’s Central Election Commission (CEC) is set to expand its overseas voting infrastructure ahead of the snap parliamentary elections by opening 100 polling stations in 34 countries.

This represents an increase of 41 polling stations beyond the current 59 abroad, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.

In neighboring Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz citizens will be able to vote at seven designated locations: Astana, two stations in Almaty, Atyrau, Karaganda, Shymkent, and Taraz.

CEC Chairman Tynchtyk Shainazarov highlighted that these elections will be held under a new electoral system introduced through recent constitutional amendments. The country is now divided into 30 districts, with each district electing three members to parliament.

For the first time, a remote voting mechanism will also be implemented, enabling voters to cast ballots at any polling station without bureaucratic barriers, provided they are physically present.

As of October 1, 2025, Kyrgyzstan has approximately 4.29 million registered voters eligible to participate in the elections.
