Kyrgyzstan is set to increase electricity tariffs from May 1, 2026, as part of a broader effort to modernize and stabilize its energy sector.
The new pricing structure has been introduced by the Ministry of Energy of the Kyrgyz Republic under the country’s Medium-Term Tariff Policy for 2025-2030, The Caspian Post reports via Kyrgyz media.
The changes are aimed at ensuring the sustainable operation of the national power system while gradually aligning electricity prices with actual costs.
Special provisions will apply to residents of the Toktogul district in the Jalal-Abad region and Caz-Keçüü village in Kara-Kul. In these areas, part of the electricity consumption will continue to be charged at cost price, in line with compensation measures linked to the construction of the Toktogul Hydropower Plant.
The tariff adjustment is a necessary step to maintain energy reliability and improve long-term efficiency across the sector.
The updated tariffs will be applied excluding taxes.
