The Kyrgyz film “Kachkyn” (The Deal at the Border) has earned international acclaim, winning the Best Screenplay award at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Film Festival, held in Chongqing, China.
The prestigious Golden Camellia Award was presented to screenwriters Dastan Zhapar Ryskeldi. Aktan Ryskeldiev, recognizing their compelling narrative and contribution to regional cinema, The Caspian Post reports via Kyrgyz media.
Film critic Gulbara Tolomushova shared the news, noting that the SCO festival featured 48 outstanding films from member countries, highlighting a rich array of cultural and artistic expression from across the region.
Kachkyn follows the intense and emotional journey of Aza and Samat, two drug traffickers carving secret routes through the rugged mountains of Central Asia. Their lives take an unexpected turn when they encounter Nazik, a young woman fleeing captivity. As she once again falls into the hands of traffickers, Aza makes a dangerous choice to save her-no matter the consequences.
