Kyrgyz-Chinese Bedel Border Checkpoint Reopens

The Bedel automobile checkpoint on the Kyrgyz-Chinese border officially resumed operations on May 22, according to the State Customs Service of Kyrgyzstan.

The checkpoint is open only to individuals and passenger vehicles, The Caspian Post reports, citing Kyrgyz media.

The resumption of the checkpoint is aimed at strengthening Kyrgyz-Chinese cooperation and developing the country's tourism potential.

The Bedel automobile checkpoint was opened in September 2024 in a simplified manner, with the creation of temporary infrastructure.

With the onset of the winter period, from October 1, 2024, in agreement with the Chinese side, passage through this crossing was temporarily suspended. At the current stage, due to the need to build a full-fledged infrastructure, the checkpoint operates in a simplified manner - without the passage of goods and cargo, with the exception of goods for personal use.
