The UN General Assembly has unanimously adopted a resolution on the peaceful resolution of border disputes, endorsing a Kyrgyzstan-led initiative supported by regional partners in Central Asia.
The resolution, titled “Peaceful Resolution of Border Disputes,” was initiated by Kyrgyzstan together with Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, and co-sponsored by more than 40 countries, The Caspian Post reports via Kabar.
The document highlights Central Asia’s progress in resolving sensitive border issues through dialogue, negotiations, and peaceful settlement mechanisms in line with the UN Charter and international law.
It promotes a broader global principle that border disputes should be addressed through diplomacy, mutual respect, and legal frameworks rather than conflict.
The resolution also presents Central Asia’s experience as a model for good-neighborly relations, emphasizing its contribution to strengthening regional stability and international peace and security.
