Travelers can now cross the border between Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan at any time of day after three major checkpoints in Kyrgyzstan’s Batken region switched to 24-hour operations ahead of the busy summer tourism season.
Since May 20, the “Kadamjay,” “Chechme,” and “Ak-Kiya” border checkpoints have begun operating around the clock to accommodate the expected surge in cross-border travel during the summer months, The Caspian Post reports via Podrobno.uz.
According to Kyrgyzstan’s State Border Service, the move is designed to make travel more convenient for citizens of both countries and reduce congestion at border crossings during peak travel periods.
The new 24/7 crossing regime applies only to citizens of Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan. Foreign nationals from third countries will still need to use international checkpoints under existing procedures.
The seasonal measure will remain in effect until October 1, 2026, as authorities encourage travelers to plan trips in advance and ensure they carry all required documents.
