A 33-year-old woman from Kyrgyzstan was found murdered in a residential apartment in Moscow, in a case that has triggered a criminal investigation by Russian authorities.
The victim’s body was discovered by relatives on the night of May 19 in an apartment on Lyublinskaya Street. The remains were reportedly wrapped in plastic bags, taped, and hidden inside a storage compartment of a sofa, The Caspian Post reports via Vesti.kg.
Investigators said the victim had injuries to the neck and hands, suggesting she may have attempted to defend herself before her death.
The Russian Investigative Committee has opened a criminal case under murder charges. The woman had been reported missing by her sister on May 18 after she failed to make contact for 10 days.
Police officers suspect a neighbor, a foreign national, 30, who left Russia after the incident. He has since been detained as part of the investigation.
The victim reportedly worked as a hospital cleaner and shared the apartment with two fellow nationals. Her sister had visited the residence earlier on May 12 but noticed nothing unusual at the time.
Investigators have seized three knives from the apartment, two of which were reportedly stained with blood, as forensic examinations continue.
