Kazakhstan Goes Digital on Road Permits With Azerbaijan, Türkiye, Kyrgyzstan

Kazakhstan is accelerating the digital transformation of its transport sector by launching an electronic system for exchanging international road transport permits with Azerbaijan, Türkiye, and Kyrgyzstan.

The initiative, announced by Kazakhstan’s Transport Ministry, replaces traditional paper-based permits with a fully digital system integrated across partner countries, significantly reducing administrative delays and border bottlenecks, The Caspian Post reports via Kazinform.

The new service is now available on eGov.kz under the Transport section. Transport operators must meet key requirements, including vehicle registration in Kazakhstan and possession of a valid international transit permit.

The digital shift builds on earlier successful implementations with China and Uzbekistan, as Kazakhstan expands its cross-border digital transport ecosystem with additional regional partners.

Under the system, all electronic permits - including carrier data and vehicle license plate information - are automatically shared with the relevant government systems of Azerbaijan, Türkiye, and Kyrgyzstan, improving transparency and coordination across borders.

The Transport Ministry warned that using unofficial or third-party permits can lead to serious data mismatches, border entry refusals, and legal consequences, urging carriers to rely strictly on official government platforms.
