Kazakhstan is preparing to expand its agricultural exports to Spain as the two countries deepen cooperation in trade, food production, and agri-technology.
The discussions took place in Paris during the 99th General Session of the World Organisation for Animal Health, where Kazakh Agriculture Minister Aidarbek Saparov met with Spanish Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food Luis Planas Puchades, The Caspian Post reports via Kazinform.
The talks focused on boosting agrarian cooperation and expanding bilateral trade as Kazakhstan looks to strengthen its foothold in European markets.
Kazakhstan’s agricultural exports to Spain doubled last year, driven largely by shipments of grains, legumes, and essential oils. Astana now aims to further increase exports of grains, oilseeds, processed food products, and animal feed.
The two sides also explored cooperation in agri-technologies, irrigation systems, food processing, livestock breeding, veterinary science, and investment projects.
A major focus of the talks was investment cooperation, including plans for a vertically integrated meat production complex involving Big Farm LLP.
The project, planned in the Yereymentau district of Akmola Region, will develop an Angus cattle farming operation with 20,000 head of cattle. Authorities have already allocated 70,000 hectares of land for the initiative.
The ambitious project is expected to attract 132 million euros in investment and create around 250 jobs, underscoring Kazakhstan’s broader strategy to modernize its agricultural sector and attract international partners.
