Kyrgyz Rescue Teams Airlift Russian Climbers from Dangerous Peak

Rescue teams successfully evacuated two Russian climbers stranded on the summit of Baychechekey Peak in Kyrgyzstan’s Ala-Archa Gorge.

The incident occurred on the evening of August 20. The climbers, descending along the challenging Ilyushinka 4b route, lost their way in the dark and were forced to spend the night on the mountain, The Caspian Post reports via Kyrgyz media.

Due to adverse weather conditions and the high altitude-the peak rises 4,515 meters above sea level-authorities deployed air support at dawn. Rescue teams reached the climbers at 6:55 a.m. (GMT+6) and transported them to Bishkek by 7:19 a.m., where medical staff provided first aid.

Preliminary reports indicate that both climbers are in stable condition.
