President Sadyr Japarov has signed the Law of the Kyrgyz Republic approving the ratification of an agreement with China for the construction of the Kyrgyz-Chinese Friendship Bridge.
The agreement, originally signed on September 26, 2024, in Beijing, was adopted by the Jogorku Kenesh on February 12, 2025, The Caspian Post reports, citing Kyrgyz media.
The specified Agreement provides for the construction of a 187-meter-long bridge at the Irkeshtam border checkpoint, located on the Osh - Sary-Tash - Irkeshtam highway in the Alai district of the Osh region. The bridge will be built by the Chinese side, and upon completion of construction, all work performed on the territory of Kyrgyzstan will be transferred to the Kyrgyz side.
The ratification of the agreement will create conditions for the development of trade and economic relations between China and Kyrgyzstan, meet the growing demand for passenger and cargo transportation between the two countries, and strengthen friendly cooperation and exchanges based on the principles of equality and coordinated consultation.
