Former Deputy Interior Minister Kursan Asanov and former First Deputy Prime Minister Aaly Karashev have been detained in Kyrgyzstan on suspicion of organizing mass unrest.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs informed that the two men allegedly attempted to form a group of citizens, launch petitions calling for early presidential elections, and spread unverified information among the public, The Caspian Post reports, citing Kyrgyz media.
A criminal case has been initiated against them under the charge of “Mass Unrest.”
Both Asanov and Karashev are signatories to the so-called “Letter of 75.”
Earlier, Bekbolot Talgarbekov, Kurmanbek Dyikanbaev, and Emil Uzakbaev were also detained as part of the same investigation.
