Kyrgyzstan-Germany Trade Quadruples in Four Years

On Tuesday, Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Head of the Presidential Administration Adylbek Kasymaliev met with Michael Harms, Executive Director of the Eastern Committee of German Economy, during the Kyrgyz-German business forum "Day of German Economy in Kyrgyzstan" and the IV meeting of the Kyrgyz-German Business Council.

According to the Cabinet of Ministers, Kasymaliev noted that a regular political dialogue has been established between Kyrgyzstan and Germany at the highest level, and economic contacts have been intensified. In this context, the head of the Cabinet noted that Germany is one of the important trading partners of the Kyrgyz Republic, The Caspian Post reports citing Kabar.

He said that since 2022 there has been an increase in trade turnover between the two countries, and a threefold increase in investments from Germany. Over the period 2020-2024, Kyrgyzstan's trade turnover with Germany has increased almost fourfold.

"We believe that promising areas for investment by German companies are the IT sector, including the construction of data centers, logistics hubs, renewable energy sources, including research in the field of green hydrogen production, as well as the mining sector. Kyrgyzstan is ready to support in every possible way German companies that are interested in implementing investment projects in our country," he said.

In turn, Michael Harms, Executive Director of the Eastern Committee of German Economy, expressed gratitude for the hospitality and warm welcome. He noted the importance of further work to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the trade, economic and investment spheres and proposed implementing a number of specific mutually beneficial projects.
