Kyrgyzstan Moves to Secure Exclusive Rights to World Nomad Games

Kyrgyzstan is preparing new legislation that would grant the country exclusive rights over the World Nomad Games, reinforcing its role as the spiritual and coordinating center of the global nomadic sports festival.

The Kyrgyz Ministry of Culture, Information, Sports and Youth Policy has drafted a bill that has been released for public discussion, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.

Officials say current national laws regulate culture, sports, and intangible heritage but do not formally recognize Kyrgyzstan’s international status as the hub for preserving and promoting nomadic civilization heritage.

If adopted, the law would legally formalize Kyrgyzstan’s position as the main coordinator of the World Nomad Games and ensure protection of the event’s branding, symbolism, and methodology. It would also establish the country’s exclusive ownership rights to the Games.

At the same time, the proposal would allow hosting rights to be transferred to other countries through international agreements, while Kyrgyzstan retains legal and organizational oversight as the event’s owner.

The draft also proposes holding the Games every two years, with host countries rotating for each edition, while maintaining unified standards for the event.

The next edition - the sixth World Nomad Games - is scheduled to take place from August 31 to September 6, 2026, continuing the international celebration of traditional nomadic sports and culture rooted in Central Asia.
