Kyrgyzstan’s economy continued its rapid expansion in January 2025, with a significant 10.6% increase in GDP compared to the same period last year.
According to data of the Eurasian Development Bank, the increase in GDP in annual terms reached a double-digit value and amounted to 10.6%, The Caspian Post reports, citing Kyrgyz media.
EDB analysts note that high consumer demand remains the main driver of growth. In January, domestic trade volumes increased by 39%. The service sector (excluding trade) gave an increase of 23%, and manufacturing industries + 13%.
EDB experts believe that during the year, the key indicators of the development of the economy of Kyrgyzstan will maintain positive dynamics. Economic growth in 2025 is projected at 8.7%.
In general, a positive picture is also observed in neighboring countries as well. In Belarus, Russia,Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, the economies are growing at rates that outpace the global average, while there is a tendency for inflation to decrease; its level will not exceed 4-5%. In the future, this figure may decrease even more.
