More than 1,800 Kyrgyz citizens are currently stranded in the United Arab Emirates and Qatar, officials have confirmed.
Seitek Zhumakadyr uulu, director of the consular department at the Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry, said there have been no casualties among Kyrgyz nationals in the Persian Gulf countries, The Caspian Post reports, citing Kabar.
According to him, consular officials are in active talks with hotels to prevent evictions. “There are few Kyrgyz citizens in Abu Dhabi, and there are no issues with evictions there. At present, around 800 Kyrgyz citizens are stranded in Qatar and about 1,000 in the UAE,” he said.
He added that consular staff in Dubai have been working even overnight to quickly address emerging problems. In Saudi Arabia, most Kyrgyz citizens are pilgrims who traveled to perform Umrah.
The main challenges are currently being reported in Dubai and Qatar.
The Foreign Ministry has urged citizens to follow official guidance and stay in contact with consular services.
