Rubezh 2025 Exercises Enter Active Phase at Kyrgyz Edelweiss Training Center

The Kyrgyz Defense Ministry has announced that the Rubezh 2025 command and staff exercises entered their active phase at the Edelweiss Training Center.

The drills involve the Collective Rapid Deployment Forces from across the Central Asian region, The Caspian Post reports via Kyrgyz media.

The exercises are designed to train forces in conducting combat operations against illegal armed groups. The opening ceremony was attended by senior officials from the military departments of Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Russia, Tajikistan, as well as CSTO Secretary General Imangali Tasmagambetov.

Major General Erlis Terdikbaev described the exercises as a crucial test of combat readiness amid global instability, emphasizing that participants must be prepared to respond to threats ranging from transnational terrorism to regional destabilization.

Tasmagambetov highlighted the threat posed by radical extremist groups potentially moving from the Middle East, noting that the drills aim to strengthen joint counter-terrorism capabilities.

Around 1,200 servicemen and 500 units of military and special equipment, including aircraft, helicopters, and drones, are taking part in Rubezh 2025, with the Russian contingent primarily drawn from the 201st military base.

The exercises are being conducted both at the Edelweiss Training Center and in the waters of Issyk-Kul Lake, offering a versatile environment for comprehensive operational training.
