Kyrgyzstan Records Lowest Labor Productivity in Central Asia, World Bank Data Shows

Kyrgyzstan ranked last among Central Asian countries in labor productivity in 2024.

The economic output per employed person in Kyrgyzstan amounted to just $18,800 last year - the lowest figure in the region. By comparison, labor productivity reached $75,800 in Kazakhstan and $67,300 in Turkmenistan. Uzbekistan recorded $27,500 per worker, while Tajikistan stood at $20,900, The Caspian Post reports via Economist.kg.

The gap becomes even more striking when compared to the global average, which currently stands at $49,700 per employed person.

Despite the low productivity figures, Kyrgyzstan's workforce has continued to grow steadily. The number of people employed in the country's economy increased from approximately 2.29 million in 2012 to 2.76 million in 2024.
