Strong Wind in Bishkek. Mayor's Office Reports on Damage to Infrastructure

On the night of May 18, strong winds in Bishkek caused widespread damage to city infrastructure, The Caspian Post reported citing the AkiPress.

According to city services:

  • 23 trees were uprooted and another 49 were damaged.
  • Falling branches and debris damaged parked cars breaking windows and causing dents.
  • Roofs of both residential buildings and commercial properties sustained damage.
  • On Ala-Too Square, the state flag was torn, but it was replaced within 30 minutes.

Emergency crews are actively working on-site to clear fallen trees, repair damage and assess the impact of the storm.
