Russian President Vladimir Putin held a phone conversation with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
The Kremlin said the Armenian prime minister informed the Russian president about the results of his meeting with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and US President Donald Trump in Washington on August 8, The Caspian Post reports citing Russian media.
“Nikol Pashinyan provided a detailed account of the meeting with US President Donald Trump and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev in Washington on August 8. Vladimir Putin emphasized the importance of steps aimed at ensuring a sustainable peace between Yerevan and Baku. The Russian side reaffirmed its readiness-within the framework of the well-known trilateral agreements at the highest level from 2020-2022-to contribute to the comprehensive normalization of Armenian-Azerbaijani relations, including the unblocking of transport communications in the region,” the statement said.
Putin, in turn, spoke about the main outcomes of his talks with US presidential special envoy Stephen Witkoff and preparations for his meeting with Donald Trump in Alaska. The Armenian prime minister welcomed steps aimed at a peaceful resolution of the Ukrainian crisis.
The conversation took place at the initiative of the Armenian side.
