Ukraine's Odesa city came under heavy attack as strikes damaged residential areas and civilian infrastructure, leaving at least 16 people injured and causing widespread destruction across the Black Sea city.
Local officials said the assault unfolded in two waves, with the Prymorskyi District suffering the most severe impact. Multi-storey apartment buildings were set ablaze after being hit, with fires spreading to upper floors and rooftops before emergency crews managed to contain them, The Caspian Post reports via Ukrainian media.
In addition to residential blocks, several other civilian sites were damaged, including a kindergarten, shopping centre, hotel, and administrative buildings-underscoring the scale of the strikes.
In the Khadzhybeiskyi District, infrastructure facilities, warehouses, and garage complexes were also targeted. Dozens of vehicles, including buses and parked cars, were destroyed or heavily damaged.
Among the injured is a 17-year-old boy. Two victims are in critical condition and receiving intensive care, while others were treated on-site or referred for outpatient care.
More than 280 emergency personnel and multiple units of equipment were deployed to deal with the aftermath. Temporary response centres have been set up to assist residents affected by the destruction.
