Azerbaijani and Turkish Foreign Ministers Discuss International and Regional Issues

Jeyhun Bayramov, Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister, had a phone conversation with his Turkish counterpart, Hakan Fidan, The Caspian Post reports via the Azerbaijani Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Over the telephone, the two conversed on regional and international security, as well as bilateral and multilateral cooperation.

Minister Fidan conveyed condolences from Türkiye regarding the recent crash of an Embraer 190 passenger plane belonging to Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) near Aktau, Kazakhstan. He expressed wishes for mercy for the victims and a speedy recovery for the injured, reaffirming Türkiye’s solidarity with Azerbaijan and readiness to assist.

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov thanked Fidan for the condolences and the continuous support and solidarity. Noting that the investigation into the causes of the plane crash is under control of the Azerbaijan’s leadership, Minister Bayramov added that a state commission has been formed. Minister Bayramov detailed the progress made so far in the investigation.

The ministers also discussed the situation in the Middle East, particularly in Syria, and Azerbaijan’s plans to provide humanitarian aid. Additionally, they reviewed prospects for cooperation within the Organization of Turkic States.
